My name is Carrie and I am a rape survivor. I am also an artist and metalsmith. I am a woman. And most important; I’m a human.
Some of these poems and articles may be hard to read, but they are from my own experience as a rape victim and they are important. They are important because it is apart of the healing process. It may help you in some way to know you are not alone.
I know that feeling. I almost died from the rape and the assaults; from the long-term consequences of what happened. I still struggle. Some days are good and others’ are bad. Please know that if you are a victim, whether male or female, teenage or older, it was not your fault and you did not deserve what happened to you. It is okay to be a victim, and you can overcome it. You can become a survivor. You can heal.
I hope you enjoy the poetry I write and my sharing my experience with you. Let’s be realistic we are complete strangers. This is a very personal thing for me to put out into the world. I ask you to please be considerate.
I hope you write your own poetry. I hope you thrive.
